Certificate Signing Request (CSR) Generation Instructions for Microsoft Exchange 2013

This guide will provide step-by-step instructions for creating a CSR on Microsoft Exchange 2013.
  1. Open and Login to Exchange Admin Center (EAC) by navigating to https:///ecp in a web browser.

  1. Click on the “Servers” button in the navigation menu, then select Certificates at the top right, then the + icon.

  1. In the “New Exchange Certificate” window, enter a friendly name for the certificate and select the “Create a request for a certificate from a certification authority” option.


  1. Select the check box ONLY if you are using a Wildcard Certificate (*.yourdomain.com) and if so, just enter the root domain of your certificate such as “yourdomain.com”. If not, proceed accordingly to the next screen/step.

  1. Click Browse to select which server you want to save the request on and click Next.

  1. Select the specific domains or services that you wish to incorporate in your certificate and proceed by clicking the "Next" button. You have the option to mark the list of additional domains or services by utilizing the Ctrl+Click function.

  1. Review the list of names that Exchange 2013 recommends using in your CSR and click Next. You can add, edit, or delete the names by using the +, – features provided.

  1. Then click Next.

  1. Please specify the directory or path where you wish to save the CSR as a ".req" file and then select the Finish option.

  1. Find and access the recently generated CSR from the designated location of your choice using a text editor like Notepad. Then, copy all the text, comprising:

  1. Please go back to the Generation Form on our website, then paste the complete CSR into the provided text box and proceed with the rexst of the generation process.
